1987 Adi Da Samraj Gathers with devotees and “Considers” the conservative sign of “self”-discipline that naturally appears when His devotee has Truly, most fundamentally, Heard Him.

His Divine Presence, Parama-Sapta-Na Adi Da, Says:

“The principle of ‘self’-discipline at level 1.3 (or the third phase of the intensive Listening-Hearing stage) of the Reality-Way of Adidam is not the idealization of conservative discipline, but True Hearing of Me.

In the only-by-Me Revealed and Given ‘Radical’ (or ‘At-the-Root’) Reality-Way of Adidam (or Adidam Ruchiradam), the Awakening to True Hearing of Me establishes a unique foundation for ‘self’-discipline. And so it would, naturally or inevitably, take the most conservative form, beginning at level 1.3. So, it is not that ‘self’-discipline is idealized–it is simply that, at level 1.3, a unique principle has been established. The great purpose has fulfilled itself in the form of the first great sign, that of True Hearing of Me.”

Adi Da goes on to Say:

“True Hearing of Me allows the transcending of the ‘subjective’ fault, the ‘self’-contraction in its original base, egoity fundamentally. Therefore, the transcending of the ‘self’-contraction, on the basis of Truly Hearing Me, shows its sign originally at the ‘subjective’ level–in other words, at the level of mind.

The transcending of the bondage of ‘self’-contraction exhibited through the fitfulness, the constant stimulated nature of mind, is then demonstrated—you might say—‘objectively’, in relations, or in action. So, the transcending of mind, based on Truly Hearing Me, shows the conservative sign in action. This is the inevitable demonstration, or the necessary demonstration, at level 1.3—again, not based on the idealization of conservative ‘self’-discipline for its own sake, as if ‘self’-discipline fulfills you or fulfills some secondary conditional purpose. Rather, conservative ‘self’-discipline at level 1.3 is, indeed, based upon True Hearing of Me, but founded on the transcending of the ‘subjective’ principle, the ‘self’-contraction as a ‘subjectively’ originated search.

So it is, you might say, the quieting of mind, the transcending of mind, or the constant conversation ‘within’—the stimulated mentality, emotional reactivity, and their likenesses in the stresses in the body. It is the transcending of that, that allows the unique demonstration of conservative ‘self’-discipline at level 1.3, and then beyond.

True Hearing of Me, awakens you to that disposition that transcends the ‘subjective’ wandering of the mind. So, precisely then, at level 1.3, that ‘subjective’ wandering must be transcended, moment to moment. That is the work at level 1.3. That is the effect, or sign, of Truly Hearing Me.” ~Adi Da Samrajashram
