1987 Adi Da Samraj Gathers with devotees and “Considers” His Communication in The Mummery Book.
His Divine Presence, Parama-Sapta-Na Adi Da, Says:
“Life is a mummery. Not just Raymond Darling’s life, your life is a mummery, a mock story, a mock tale, a mockery of Reality even, in which Reality must be Realized. But you will only Realize Reality if you persist in a unique disposition that allows for Realization, both the Realization of the nature of conditional existence, that it is a psycho-physical process, and the Realization of Existence Itself, Being Itself, Which Transcends conditionality. That requires a unique disposition. Apart from that, as you mature further in your understanding of yourself altogether, and in your response to The Mummery Book in particular, you must discover that your own life is a mummery, this kind of battle with Reality, this kind of effort to separate ‘objective’ and ‘subjective’. You must begin to feel your life as a kind of dream, in which time and space are paradoxes.
By tendency, you cannot comprehend ‘objective’ existence. You do not observe its real nature. You see it as ‘objective’. You do not comprehend it in Consciousness. You presume that Consciousness is separate from it, just watching it. You presume mind is somehow inside and separate. You do not understand that ‘objective’ reality is a ‘subjective’ reality–in other words, that the universe is psycho-physical. You do not presume this, you do not understand it, because you have developed habits of mind and attention along conventional lines, based on egoic ‘self’-identification with the body-mind-complex. You have not done the ego-transcending practice that breaks down that barrier.”
Adi Da goes on to Say:
“This Maya cannot be comprehended, as it has been said in the Great Tradition of humankind. It is a paradox. It is a plastic. It is always space-time. It is always psycho-physical. It is by nature incomprehensible and dreamlike. You cannot ‘win’ unless you transcend it. But to transcend it, you must transcend yourself.” ~Adi Da Samrajashram
