SACRED HISTORY for March 21st

1986    Adi Da Samraj Gathers with devotees and Reveals the esoteric Secret of surrender to the Siddha-Guru as the “Ishta” of the true devotee.

His Divine Presence Parama-Sapta-Na Adi Da Says:

“I have originated a Unique Teaching in your company. But I am also the Bearer of a Tradition, the Sign of a Tradition, which I would Call, using traditional language, ‘Ishta-Guru-Bhakti Yoga’, in which the Guru is the ‘Ishta’, or the Divine Form embraced by the devotee.

This is the Tradition of those who have served Me in My Own Transcendental Spiritual Process. In that great esoteric Tradition, the True ‘Ishta’ Is the Master, the One Who Brings the Divine Revelation, Incarnates, and Awakens devotees.

Such an Individual, rather than a myth or an artist’s image, created in paint or sculpture or words, is the proper ‘Ishta’ of devotees, who receive the direct Revelation through the Spiritual Master. This is the Tradition I have Completed. This is how I related to Baba Muktananda, and to others who served Me. This is how Baba Muktananda related to Bhagavan Nityananda and others who served Him, and so on. It is only when this Secret is grasped, when the Secret of the Guru, or Spiritual Master, is grasped, entered into, submitted to, that the Spiritual Process in its fullest sense is Realized. It is only then that the Spiritual Process becomes possible, the Instrument of Grace becomes useable, the practice becomes effective.”

Adi Da goes on to Say:

“What is ‘Narcissus’ doing? He is making an ‘ishta’ out of himself. But that ‘ishta’ is not Divine. It has no Siddhi. It is just an image of the ego, and the more you gaze upon it, the more bound you become.

You have made an idol out of yourself, a way of life out of the ‘self’-contraction. You want some kind of ‘religious’ consolation, but you are not understanding yourself sufficiently to renounce the purpose of ‘Narcissus’, to renounce the idol of ‘Narcissus’, to renounce the name of ‘Narcissus’, the ‘mantra’ of ‘I’. Thus, the Teaching of the Spiritual Master offends you with its demands, and you refuse to recognize the Master in your ego-possession.

The Master does not need your acknowledgement—this Great Yoga of devotion is not about giving some human individual acknowledgement because such a one needs it. It is about recognition, and relating to the Vehicle of Divine Transmission through devotional surrender, so that the True Spiritual Process may be Generated.

The easiest of all Means is Given to devotees in the Form of the Master, the Divine Siddha-Master. Those who recognize such a One enjoy the easiest of all courses. It is all Given for free, and it is a Blissful Enterprise. It is Blissful from the beginning, because it is meditation on the Divine Love-Bliss.”  ~Adi Da Samrajashram
