SACRED HISTORY for August 25th
1987 Adi Da Samraj Gathers with devotees and “Considers” the right orientation to discipline in the Reality-Way of Adidam.
His Divine Presence Parama-Sapta-Na Adi Da Says:
“Discipline yourself for the sake of True Ecstasy. You will not do so unless you confess the impulse toward ego-transcending Real-God-Realization.
So you take up disciplines in the Reality-Way of Adidam—yes, to reflect you to yourself. But why do you want to reflect yourself to yourself? For the sake of Ecstasy Itself! Freedom, Ecstasy! Real-God-Realization! Not indulgence in the limits of conditional existence. Transcend them, observe them, deal with them—yes. That is the thrust of the Reality-Way of Adidam.
It is not an endurance contest, or a solemnity contest, or a grimness contest. It is not that at all! Yes, it is a matter of discipline, but it is the discipline inherent to the commitment to True Ecstasy, Inherent Ecstasy, not so-called acquired ‘ecstasy’. Not seeking, but Love-Bliss Itself. Even as children in their naive way demonstrate that choice, you, as an adult, must demonstrate it on the basis of a greater intelligence, a mature intelligence.
Children also suffer, but they do show this Life-sign of a spontaneous commitment to the Motive of Ecstasy Itself, of True Joy. This is why their company is pleasing—because they, without all the baggage of adults (in their suffering at any rate), rather typically show the sign of this commitment that is fundamental to being human, to being born. All other signs made in Nature, or by reaction, are there to be overcome. And it is a great struggle—no doubt. And one should look forward to That Fullness of Realization in Which the struggle is no longer necessary. But in the meantime, one must accept the struggle and succeed at it.
This is the measure of a practitioner of the Reality-Way of Adidam: The sign of True Ecstasy, the discipline of True Ecstasy.” ~Adi Da Samrajashram
