SACRED HISTORY for May 16th

1987 Adi Da Samraj Gathers with devotees and Discourses on the process of “consideration” in the Reality-Way of Adidam.

His Divine Presence Parama-Sapta-Na Adi Da Says:

“All My Talks, all My Writings, are forms of ‘Consideration’.

The word ‘consideration’ in the Reality-Way of Adidam has a technical meaning, a special meaning. If you look it up in the dictionary, it means to bring two stars together: ‘sider-’, like ‘siderial’, ‘stars’, and ‘con’, ‘together’. Or, as in a ‘problem’ having two opposing sides, it is to realize the non-contradiction. That is the ‘root’ of the English word ‘consideration’. Beyond that, I have used the term ‘consideration’, or the whole notion of ‘consideration’, in a technical sense, relating it to the process of samyama in the Yogic tradition. This process is described in Patanjali’s Yoga Aphorisms, as the combination of, or the basic steps in the Yogic process—concentration, contemplation, and samadhi, or undifferentiated immersion in the reality ‘considered’ or contemplated.

The process of ‘consideration’, then, in the Reality-Way of Adidam is a matter of giving yourself completely to some force, ‘subject’, ‘problem’, and entering into it completely, with full concentration, full seriousness, even whole bodily, or psycho-physically, to the fullest extent. In other words, intensively entering into it with such concentration, such fullness, that it becomes a kind of contemplation—until the contradiction in it, or the ‘problem’, is resolved in a singleness, a perception that is free, in which the nature of that which you contemplated has become obvious, the Truth of it revealed. So, all of My Talks, all My Writings, and so forth, are forms of ‘Consideration’.”

Adi Da goes on to Say:

“My Writings and Discourses are intended to lead the serious listener into the ‘subject’ being ‘considered’. Perhaps the listener was a questioner to begin with. Perhaps I am Responding to a question in some particular case, or at least Addressing something that has the force of a question in people.

The process is always one of ‘Consideration’, entering most profoundly, with concentration, even to the point of complete immersion, in this dynamic, this stress, this confusion, this contradiction, this ‘problem’, this dilemma, until there is no dilemma, and the Reality, or Truth, of what is being ‘Considered’ becomes obvious. All My Talks, or Discussions, and Writings are that kind of a process, and have that kind of a force.

Thus, the real study of a Talk of Mine, or any of My Writings for that matter, should be for your ‘consideration’. It should have the force, therefore, of true contemplation and most profound understanding, ultimately. So the study of My Talks is, itself, ‘consideration’, or contemplation, or meditation. And if it becomes true understanding, then it has some of the force of samadhi, or ultimate understanding, or great clarity, depending on your seriousness, of course.

Whatever I have ‘Considered’ with you over the years, I have entered into it with that intention. It has been that kind of a process, and I have gone through it to the end—always—relative to everything, no matter what it was. So all My Talks—all of My Literature—are the Leelas of that process relative to every kind of ‘subject’ or ‘problem’.”  ~Adi Da Samrajashram
